Dale Edward Barrett, 76, of Hampden, formerly of Springfield, died late Wednesday evening, March 13, 2024 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Greenville, PA, educated in Springfield, MA, a son of the late Marlon and Marion (Barnes) Barrett and a graduate of the former Springfield Trade High School. Shortly after graduation, Dale began working at Oak Grove Cemetery for several years as well as the former R. E. Phelon of East Longmeadow. He retired in 2017 after 36-years as a supervisor from Mestek Corporation in Westfield.
Dale was an avid car enthusiast who loved all makes and models especially Corvettes. He also was a fan of NASCAR, but his greatest pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 54-years, Beverly L. (Childs) Barrett and leaves a son, Douglas E. Barrett and his wife Jillene of Monson; two brothers, Robert M. Barrett of Springfield, and Edward A. Barrett and his wife Anne of Enfield, CT; as well as five nieces and one nephew. Besides his parents, Dale was predeceased by his brothers, James S. and Donald L. Barrett.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, March 19th from 4-6 PM followed by a funeral home service beginning at 6 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., in Springfield. A private burial will take place at Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
