Virginia J. (Kwiatkowski) Gilbert

Virginia J. (Kwiatkowski) Gilbert, 90, of Agawam, MA passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born on March 9,1933, the daughter of the late John and Florence (Bornas) Kwiatkowski. After graduating from Agawam HS in 1951 Virginia worked as a dental assistant in Longmeadow, MA. She met her husband of 53 years Sid E. Gilbert (deceased) at Westover AFB in 1958. This began her 20 year life as an Air Force wife and mother starting with Sid’s first assignment in Bermuda and followed by several relocations in the States. Virginia had a special ability to turn every new house into a warm and loving Home. She was dedicated to her family and especially passionate about health and nutrition, growing her own vegetables and creating her own recipes. She was known for her energy, vitality and ability to laugh during challenging times. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia is predeceased by her son Steven G. Gilbert and brothers Thomas Kwiatkowski and Lawrence Kwiat. Virginia is survived by her loving daughters Susan D. Gilbert of Agawam and Cynthia A. King and husband Dwayne of Tavernier, FL. She is also survived by her brother Ronald Kwiatkowski and sisters in law JoAnne Kwiat and Sue Abare as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to extend gratitude to the caring staff and friends at Agawam South Rehab and New England Hospice. Virginia will be laid to rest beside her husband at the VA Cemetery in Agawam. Burial and services will be private.
