Barbara Jean (Robitaille) Souliere

Barbara Jean “Bobbie” (Robitaille) Souliere, 88, of Agawam, passed away on April 12, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center. Barbara was born in Springfield on June 23, 1935, the daughter of the late Albert and Fannie (Wilkins) Robitaille. She was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School (Class of 1953) and of Westfield State College in 1969. One of the greatest joys in Barbara’s life was being a special education teacher at Agawam Junior High School where she taught for 25 years. She loved her students and made a difference in many young lives. Barbara was also an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan.

Beyond her passions for teaching and sports, family was paramount in Barbara's life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and held family gatherings close to her heart. Barbara's commitment to her family was unwavering, and her love and support were evident in everything she did. Whether it was cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events or simply sharing stories around the dinner table, Barbara found immense joy in the presence of her family. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Girard and Albert Robitaille. Barbara is survived by her three devoted children, Dr. Charles R. Souliere Jr. and his wife Maria of Gig Harbor, WA, Holly A. Fontaine and her husband Larry of East Longmeadow, MA, and Edward P. Souliere and his wife Brenda of Agawam, MA., her sister Betty-Lou Rockwell of East Longmeadow, nine cherished grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. Donations may be made to the First Church of Christ, 763 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA 01106 or through their online portal. Burial will be private.
