Christa (Krieg) Yazel, 79 of Chicopee, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ansbach, Germany, on July 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Otto Max and Wilhelmine L. (Grabner) Krieg. She was educated in Germany. Christa immigrated to the United States in 19 54 and settled in the Springfield area. She worked for Springfield Wire and retired after many years of service.  In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Paul M. Yazel in 1982 and two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her three children John E. Yazel Narragansett, R.I, Sharon Rivers and her husband John of Monson, MA., and Edmund W. Yazel of Sevierville, TN, and one sister Elfrienda Hluschewskyj of Wilbraham, and fourteen grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Family and friends will gather and remember Christa on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10a.m. – 12 noon at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118.
