David Dale Lyon, 69 of the Sixteen acres section of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 Mercy Medical Center. David was born in Springfield, on March 25, 1948, the son of the late George and Margaret Lyon. He was educated in the Springfield school system. He proudly served our country in the Vietnam War and he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and three Purple Heart Medals. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his two brothers Ronald and Kevin. He is survived by his two devoted sons, David Lyon, Jr., of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Kenneth Lyon and his wife Tanya of Springfield, three sisters Marcia, Carol and Deb and two brothers Mark and Gary, and his four grandchildren Brittany, Andrew, Amanda and Jonathan. He also leaves a large extended family. Family and friends will gather and remember David on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5-7p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. Burial and military honors will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA, 01001.
