Florine Marie (Lang) Wilbur, 92 of Avoca, NY, and formerly of Hampden, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9,2017. Florine was born in Hartford, CT., on November 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Johannes Jacob and Olga Florine (Ehlers) Lang. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband David Thomas Wilbur and her sister, Karen Louise Gidman. She is survived by her two children Stephen David Wilbur and his wife Debra (Boulette) of East Freetown, NY, and Kathryn Lynn (Wilbur) Booth and her husband Arthur of Richland, MO, as well as grandchildren, Melissa S. Rees, Jessica B. Van Ryan, Tyler D. Booth and great grandchildren, David T Rees, Abigail S Rees, Carlie E Miller, Ava J Van Ryan. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Florine attended the University of Boston from 1945-1948 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in teaching for Home economics. She was a devoted lifetime member of the Lutheran Church teaching Sunday school and being an active member. She had many creative talents, sewing of beautiful quilts and her own clothes. She was mostly known for her love to pick berries of any kind. Make jams and then gift them to others. She certainly will be remembered for her optimistic view on life even into her 90's! Family and friends will gather and remember Florine at a graveside service on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11a.m, at the Old Cemetery, Chapin Road in Hampden, MA.
