Helen Theresa (Gorman) Barton of Springfield passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 19, 1923 daughter of the late Thomas and Madge (Crowley) Gorman. She was 93 years old. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School 1942. Helen worked at the Springfield Armory as an office clerk and Muriel’s Specialty Store as manager of the shipping and receiving department. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years Gilbert Rood Barton and by three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her devoted daughter Linda M. Goehlert and her husband Scott A. both of Springfield and two precious grandchildren Alyssa C. and Jillian R. both of Springfield, and her grand-dog Peanut B. Before passing, she requested it to be known how wonderful “beyond words” her family was to her especially in her later years. She will be missed. Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to Wingate at Springfield, Baystate Medical Center ER, MM7, and Daly 6A for the exceptional care and compassion that was given to Helen.
