Mary Louise (Sherman) Haley, 95, of East Longmeadow, MA, passed away on Saturday, October  21, 2017, at the home of her eldest son, Edward  Haley and his wife, Jean, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Cummington, MA on November 14,1921, the daughter of the late Ernest and Wilhelmina (Wood) Sherman. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, Class of 1940. Mary belonged to the East Longmeadow United Methodist Church and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was a school bus driver, and an award winning realtor. In addition she was actively involved in the East Longmeadow Garden Club and the Morning Glory Walkers. Mary will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and a friend always willing to help others. She instilled an appreciation of nature through her love of the outdoors, gardening and bird watching. Mary had a keen sense of humor, was a lifelong learner who loved reading. She enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family, be it a trip to Wyoming, a Caribbean adventure or anywhere for her grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband Edward James Haley Sr. in 2009; her beloved son, Richard; her brother, Adolphus Sherman; her son in law Steven Racicot; and her granddaughter Mary Lovisa. In addition to Edward and Jean, she is survived by her children William Haley and his wife Ruth of Hampden;  Mark Haley and his wife Hollis of Granby, MA;  Mary Ellen Henault and her husband James of Ludlow, MA; her daughter in law, Eileen Fielding of Cornwall Bridge, CT; and her sister Ruth Durling of Monson, MA.  Mary leaves many grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Deepest thanks to our wonderful caregivers: Susan, Brenda, Debe, Vanessa, Ann Marie, and Bay State Hospice, especially Carolyn. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11a.m. at the East Longmeadow United Methodist Church, 215 Somers Road, East Longmeadow, MA, 01028.Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in East Longmeadow.
