Tribute

Richard Guy Duncan, Sr. of Western Mass. died in Worcester on Feb. 24, 2024 after years of struggle with frontotemporal dementia. He was 76 years old. Richard (Rick) was born in Franklin Lakes, N.J. to Mary and Robert Duncan and grew up in New England. He graduated from Central Connecticut College and went on to live life with a sense of adventure.

He was incredibly bright with a strong sense of humor and wit. Whenever he did something, he did it big. He ran his own business for more than 30 years and was a man of many talents. He taught himself how to play the guitar and the piano, how to sail and how to navigate, and was skilled in woodworking, photography and cooking. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed spending time on his boat in Newport, Rhode Island where he would listen to music by Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Paul Simon and The Doors. Together, with his family, he sailed from Connecticut to Maine, twice. In the early 90's, he sailed from the Bahamas up the coast to New England. He was a risk taker in sailing and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He loved his family and his dogs. He was also committed to a life of service and helping others. He was bold and unwavering when it mattered. He was good in an emergency and knew how to land on his feet.

Rick is survived by his former wife Maria and their three children, Rick, Concetta and Nicole, his six grandchildren, and his brother Jeff.

Family and Friends will gather to celebrate  Richard Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, 763 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
