Robert Edward Montagna, 70, of the Sixteen acres section of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Springfield on March 24, 1947 a son of the late Edward and Dorothy Ruth (Wade) Montagna. Bob was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and North Adams State College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Catherine (Condon) Montagna of Springfield,  his five devoted children,  David and his wife Kelly of East Longmeadow, Shawn and his wife Ashley of Springfield, Nicholas and his wife Jennifer of Holyoke, and Daniel and his wife Kathryn of East Longmeadow and Alison Archambault and her husband John of East Longmeadow; his brother James and his wife Debra of Springfield; and his six adored grandchildren, Brendan, Connor, Chloe, Rigby, Jonah, and Walter, and he leaves three nieces and a large extended family and many close friends. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 10am-12noon at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 12noon.
