Susan Lillian O’ Connor, 74, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born on October 08, 1942, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Theresa (Cullinan) O’Connor. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1961. She spent 40 years as the Insurance Supervisor of John E. McDonald Insurance of Springfield, MA. Always willing to help everyone and share a kind word. She loved unconditionally. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed every minute of every day. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by two brothers Lawrence, Jr., and William Gaines and a sister Theresa “Jean” Kelley. She is survived by her two devoted children, Craig O’Connor of Springfield and Christine Humel and her husband Steve Humel of Chicopee. She also leaves a daughter –in-law, Kimberly O’Connor of Springfield, and a brother, Thomas Gaines of East Longmeadow and five cherished grandchildren Devon Ober, Sarah Ober, Alyssa – Rose O’ Connor, John O’ Connor and Kayla Humel. Family and friends will gather and honor Susan on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 10a.m-11a.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 11a.m. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield.
