Thomas R. Gouvan, of Springfield, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Tom was born in Walbash, Indiana, on March 21, 1936, the son of the late Frank and Chloris Gouvan. He was a member Melha Shrine clown unit and was also known as “Fumbles”. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Chicopee. In 1980 Tom and his wife June were the co-founders of People against cancer. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a daughter Deborah Bowler, a granddaughter Mandi Gouvan and a brother Frank Gouvan. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty three years of marriage June (Tetreault) Gouvan of Springfield, a daughter Nancy Ainsworth and her husband David of Fountain Inn, S.C., a brother James Gouvan and his wife Marilyn of Walbash, IN., and four grandchildren Tonya Bowler, David C. Ainsworth, Scott Ainsworth and Zachary Holmes and a great-grandson Joshua Ortiz and six other great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Patricia Pryor and her husband Jeffrey and a brother-in-law Richard Tetreault and his wife Anita. Family and friends will gather and remember Tom on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 6-7:30p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 7:30p.m. Burial will be private.
