William “Billy” E. Kelly, 48 of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born in Springfield on March 9, 1969, the son of the late William A. and Grace M. (Tremble) Kelly. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1988. Billy also received his degree in Criminal Justice from Holyoke Community College. Billy was appointed to the Springfield Police Department in 1997. He served in the uniform patrol division and the detective bureau until his passing. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a sister Patricia Healey in 1998. Billy is survived by his beloved wife Caroline (Cullen) Kelly of Springfield and three devoted children Ciara, Liam and Jack Kelly all of Springfield, two loving sisters Karen Kelly and Susan Kelly Adamski and her husband Stanley all of Springfield, his mother-in-law Maura Cullen of Springfield and sisters-in-law Siobhan Cullen and Mairead Moreno both of Springfield and his brother-in-law Ciaran Cullen and his wife Jane of Newbury Port, MA., and three nephews Michael and Kevin Healey and Victor Moreno and a niece Catriona Moreno. Billy leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves countless friends and he will be missed by many. He also leaves his two dogs Buddy and Brady. Family and friends will gather and remember Billy on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 8:30a.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, Followed by A Liturgy of Christian burial at 10a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Road, Springfield.
