Agnes E. Matthews

Agnes E. (Fields) Matthews, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2018. Agnes was born in Darlington, South Carolina on May 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Elliott and Rosalee (Lucas) Fields. Agnes was a member of the College Square Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years and will be missed by many. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Theodore Matthews and a son James Goodson, Jr., and eleven siblings. She is survived by her five children Dianne Hanley, Jerlene Lewis, Joyce Bass and her husband Ronald, Jerome Goodson and Deirdre Walls and her husband Randy, and a brother Jim Fields and his wife Margaret and she leaves ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Agnes also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and a large extended family. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1p.m. at Springfield Cemetery, 171 Maple Street, Springfield. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 1p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 31 Clifton Avenue, Springfield, MA, 01105.
