Anna J. (Silvester) Caputo, 92, a lifelong resident of the Forest Park Section of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020. She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on July 24, 1928, the daughter of the late John J. and Marie (Rainone) Silvester. Anna was educated in the Bronx school system. She moved to Springfield in 1954 when she married the late Armondo J. Caputo. She retired in 1990 from Stop and Shop Grocery stores. Previously she was employed as a cashier with SIS bank, and began her working career with the former A&P Market in Springfield in the accounts payable and receivable department. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and the Women’s Guild and the athletic society. She also volunteered at the Bingo nights at the church. Anna also was a volunteer with Make a Wish Foundation for many years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Armando J. Caputo June 15, 2018, three devoted children Michael Caputo of Springfield, Richard Caputo and his wife Patricia of Springfield and Roseann Caputo and her husband Glenn of Ludlow and she leaves a sister Rose Catalano of Springfield. She also leaves her five cherished grandchildren Christopher Caputo, Vincent Caputo and his fiancé Ashley, Alonzo Caputo and Meghan Caputo Bricault and her husband Allen, and Gina Hartley. Family and friends will gather and remember Anna on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 4-6p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. Family and friends will meet at St. Catherine of Siena Church 1023 Parker Street, Springfield at 10a.m for A Liturgy of Christian burial on Friday, October 30, 2020. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
