Tribute

Anthony Joseph Scibelli, 78 of Wilbraham, MA passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born in Springfield, MA, on September 10, 1943, the son of the late Anthony C. and Teresa (Colonna) Scibelli. He graduated from Cathedral High School and completed postgraduate studies at Bridgton Academy. After graduating from Bridgton Academy he went on to attend Syracuse University, where he played football and played in the 1965 Sugar Bowl. He received his law degree from Suffolk University and practiced law in Springfield for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Vose) Scibelli and leaves his four devoted children, Teresa and her husband Mike Blum of Shrewsbury, MA, Anthony and his wife Michelle Scibelli of Wilbraham, Alexandra and her husband Padriug Anderson of Waxhaw, NC, and Angi and her husband Patrick MacDonnell of Natick, MA; 10 cherished grandchildren, Julia, Nikki, and Tyler Blum, Anthony and Fiona Scibelli, Lillian and Maddy Anderson, and Brendan, Joe, and Carolyn MacDonnell; and his sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Pasquale DeAngelis. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Scibelli. Tony gave back to many causes close to his heart. He served on the Springfield Park Commission for 7 years from 1978-1984, and chaired the commission for one year. After he retired, he moved to Wilbraham, MA where he served as Town Moderator for two terms. He also served as the President of the Goose Rocks Beach Association in his beloved Kennebunkport, ME. His greatest joy came from his 10 grandchildren. He was happiest watching them play sports, teaching them to drive, taking them for donuts, or just being Nonno. Family and friends will gather and remember Tony on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 4-6 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 19th at 10:30 AM in St. Cecelia’s Church, 42 Main Street, Wilbraham, MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s name may be directed to Bridgton Academy, PO Box 292, North Bridgton, ME 04057 or The Gray House, 22 Sheldon Street, Springfield, MA 01107.
