Armando J. Caputo, 89, a lifelong resident of the Forest Park section of Springfield, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018. Armando was born in Springfield on April 22, 1929, the son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Masi) Caputo. He was a graduate of Trade High School, Class of 1947. Armando was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church. He was an avid hockey fan and often seen at the Falcons/Indian Games. He was involved with many local political campaigns. He donated many sports pictures to various golf tournaments. He provided the items that started Armand’s Grand Slam K Auction for the Springfield Kiwanis club. Armando worked for over thirty years at Sears in the Eastfield Mall and retired in 1999. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by two brothers, Alfonso and Albert Caputo. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-four years of marriage Anna (Sylvester) Caputo of Springfield, three devoted children, Michael Caputo of Springfield, Richard Caputo and his wife Patricia of Springfield, and Roseann Caputo and her husband Glenn of Ludlow; three brothers, Joseph Caputo of South Hadley, Frank Caputo and his wife Terri of Springfield and Raymond Caputo of Ludlow; a sister, Dolores Scibelli and her husband Salvatore of East Longmeadow. He also leaves his four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Caputo, Vincent Caputo, Alonzo Caputo and Meghan Caputo and her fiancé Allen. Family and friends will gather and remember Armando on Friday, June, 22, 2018 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
