EAST LONGMEADOW- Audrey M. (McCray) Burger, 102, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021. Born on April 29, 1919 to the late William D. McCray and Margaret E. (McCoy) McCray, she was a longtime resident of Hampden before relocating to East Longmeadow. Her husband and love of her life, Arthur L. Burger for 73 yrs, predeceased her in 2015. She had many creative hobbies including knitting, painting, sewing, and she and Arthur kept an active lifestyle through swimming, tai chi, and golfing. Audrey was one of the original members of the Franconia Woman’s League, and was once the club champion. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. To cherish her memory she leaves her daughter Barbara Panek and her husband John of East Longmeadow. In addition to her parents and husband, her sister Althea L. McCray Woods predeceased her in 2006. A Memorial service for Audrey will take place on Thursday, August 5 at 11AM at the Federated Community Church of Hampden, 590 Main Street. Burial will follow in The Old Cemetery, Chapin Rd., Hampden. Her family would like to thank the kind and caring staff of East Village Place, as well as the staff of Baystate Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Audrey’s memory to either Federated Community Church of Hampden, or Hampden Senior Center, 104 Allen St.
