Barbara Marie Thomas, 76, of Hampden, died early Friday afternoon, February 15, 2019 in the comfort of her home in Hampden. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, a daughter of the late Harry W. Thomas Jr. and Marie E. (Meeker) Thomas and was a graduate of the Andrew Ward High School of Fairfield, CT Class of 1960. Barbara was employed for over 22 years with Peter Pan Bus Lines of Springfield as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2016. She was an active member for over 23 years with the Hampden Lions Club where she presently served as the Treasurer for many terms. Barbara was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for her many years of dedicated service, and in 2016 she was the recipient of the Hampden Citizen of the Year Award. She is survived by two brothers, Art Thomas with who she made her home in Hampden, and Roger E. Thomas of Shelton, CT; a sister, Pamela J. Duplease and her husband James of Huntington, CT; two aunts, one uncle, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, March 10th from 1-3 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street in Springfield. Burial will be private.
