Bruce K. Dodd, 81, of Hampden, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was born in Springfield, MA., on December 6, 1935, the son of the late Larry Scribner and Marjorie (King) Dodd. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bruce worked at Putnam Vocation High School as a printing instructor and he retired in 1994. Bruce is survived by the love of his life of sixty-four years Sandra (Plumb) Dodd of Hampden and four devoted children Peter Dodd and his wife Christine of Hampden, Shelley Sears of Hampden, Scott Dodd and his wife Karen of Turners Falls, MA., and Mark Dodd and his partner Teri Ma of Boston, MA., and he leaves six cherished grandchildren Amy Amore and her husband Enzo, Kurt Sears and his wife Shannon, Kristin Mittler and her husband Troy, Meggie DeCesare and her husband Vinnie, Jeremy Dodd and Ted Sears , as well as seven adored great- grandchildren. The family would also like to thank Lisa O’Goley for her compassion and wonderful care.  Family and friends will honor and remember Bruce on Friday, July 21, 2017 at a gathering from 10a.m. -12noon, followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 12noon at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118. Burial and Military Honors will follow in the Old Cemetery, Chapin Road, Hampden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
