Cecile D. (Normandin) Dufresne, 99, a resident of Springfield since 1923, died early Wednesday evening, December 9, 2020 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, CT. She was born June 10, 1921 in Ruxton Pond, Quebec, Canada a daughter of the late Albert and Dorilla (Dutilly) Normandin attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Commerce High School and Bay Path College. Cecile married the love of her life, N. Ernest Dufresne on February 12, 1941 and together they raised their family in Springfield. She was employed as a clerical assistant with Sears & Roebuck and later as the office manager for over thirty years for Dr. Raymond L. Gagnon. Cecile and her husband were founding members of Holy Cross Church and she was actively involved with the Women’s Club for many years as well as serving as an ecumenical minister. She and Ernest also participated in the church Follies in the school gymnasium. Cecile also visited the Holy City and was honored as serving as an ecumenical minister at the Vatican. She was the wife of the late N. Ernest Dufresne who died in August of 1996 and leaves three children, Paul Dufresne and his wife Jacqueline, Robert Dufresne, and Dianne Boreham and her husband Faron all of Springfield; her son-in-law, Thomas Nostin of West Springfield; as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Cecile’s daughter, Denise Nostin passed away this past Friday evening, December 11, 2020 at Mercy Hospital. She was also predeceased by a son, Peter Dufresne. A grave side service will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at 10:00 AM in St. Timothy Section of St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street in Springfield. With current guidelines in place social distancing and a mask will be required at all times. Arrangements are by the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute center, 1958 Allen St., in Springfield.
