Cecilia (Connett) Melville, 88, a longtime resident of Hampden, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. Cecilia was born in New York City, on January 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Connett) Connett. Cecilia was a graduate from the Madeira School for Girls in Washington, D.C. She attended Smith College in Northampton. Cecilia was a volunteer for many years at the Hampden Library and enjoyed reading to many children through the years. She was a member of the Hampden Senior Center, enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, and loved listening to the Red Sox game on the radio. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles R. Melville in 2013 and her daughter Judy Cohn. Cecilia is survived by her devoted son, Robert Melville and his wife Brenda of Dubuque, IA; her sister, Carolyn Henchy and her husband Jim of Baltimore, MD; two cherished grandchildren, Robert Melville and Maggie Melville both IA; her loving niece, Missy Weech and her husband Rob of Springfield; and her faithful companion and devoted dog Norman. Family and friends will gather and remember Cecilia on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 10:00 -11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 11:00 AM.
