Cheryl “Sherry” (Weckerly) Dougherty, 63, of the Sixteen Acres Section of Springfield, passed away on Thursday evening, July 12, 2018 at Monastery Heights in West Springfield, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on December 9, 1954 the daughter of the late Daryl and Catherine (Moynihan) Weckerly. Sherry was a graduate of Trade High School. She was a parishioner of Holy Name Church and she was a Eucharistic minister for many years. Sherry was an avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by a daughter Christine Weckerly Dougherty in 2002. She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Dougherty of Springfield, and three devoted children Kaile Bower and her husband Drew of Annapolis, MD, Joseph Dougherty of Springfield and Kaileen Dougherty of Springfield, and her six cherished grandchildren Riley, Morgan, Joseph, Colin, Erin, and Emory; she also leaves her loving sister Bonnie Twining of Ludlow and her two caring brothers William Weckerly and his wife Christina of West Springfield and Daryl Weckerly and his wife Deborah of Springfield. Sherry also was a dear friend of Bill W for many years. Sherry’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. from the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield. Burial will conclude in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
