Tribute

Chester R. “Nono” Ardolino, 82, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died late Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Springfield, a son of the late Antonio and Lena (Vancini) Ardolino-Trahan. He attended the High School of Commerce. Chet proudly served the United States Army 10th Mountain Division from March of 1955 until February 1958.  Upon his honorable discharge from active duty, Chet returned home and began a long career managing numerous area establishments in Springfield. Chet was active in his children’s sporting events where he coached both youth baseball and basketball teams for a number of years. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his seven grandchildren as they were truly what mattered most. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 53 years, Joanne M. (Boland) Ardolino of Springfield and leaves four loving children, Chester J. Ardolino and his wife Amal of Wilbraham, Lena M. McCaffrey and her husband John, Anthony M. Ardolino and his wife Megan, and Karla A. Bouchard and her husband James all of Springfield; seven cherished grandchildren, Rose, Amir, Robert, Anthony, Chester, Ella and Zakaria; a brother Antonio Ardolino of Wilbraham; two sisters, Linda Jordan and Colleen Trahan both of Springfield; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also predeceased by a sister Phyllis Dieni. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, February 23rd from 2-5 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street in Springfield. His funeral will be held on Monday, February 24th beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield, with Rites of Committal and Military Honors bestowed at 1:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chet’s name may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
