Chester P. Woodward, Sr., of Springfield, passed on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Bay State Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Chester was born in Ludlow, MA., on January 8, 1922, the son of the late Charles and Saima Woodward. Chester proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp, during World War II. He attended Trade High School. He worked for Hamilton Standard for many years and retired in 1986. He enjoyed spending time working with his orchids and plants, creating many memorable treasures out of wood, and breeding all kinds of fish. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine E. (White) Woodward in 2009, two brothers John and Charles and three sisters Mae, Eleanor and Saima and a son in law William Biermann. He is survived by two devoted children a son Chester P. Woodward, Jr., and his wife Jane of Springfield and a daughter Anna Biermann of Hampden, three cherished grandchildren Phillip Woodward and his wife Terry, Derrick Biermann and his wife Tracy and Kathy Biermann and two adored great-grandchildren Kyle and Cody. He also leaves a caregiver Silvia Halai as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Chester on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 4p.m-6p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118, followed by a Life Celebration Service and Military Honors at 6p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 12noon in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
