Craig W. Barton, of East Longmeadow, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on Thursday, November 16th at the age of 67.Craig was born in Springfield on May 10, 1950, the son of the late Lloyd and Marion (Clark) Barton. He grew up as one of three children and graduate from Technical High School in 1968. Craig received his degree in mechanical engineering from Springfield Technical Community College in 1970, before joining the Army National Guard Yankee Division in 1971. He served at Fort Poke, Louisiana where he received the “High Marksman Award”. He was honorably discharged in 1977 and returned home to Springfield to begin his professional career. Craig joined the Standard Electric Time Company where he held a variety of positions from 1977-1980. He went on to work for Tubed Products Inc. in Easthampton, MA from 1980-1996 holding several titles but most recently Plant Manager. He began working for Vibram USA, Inc. (formerly Quabaug Corporation) in 1998 where he served as Logistics Manager, Plant Manager, and General Manager and concluded his career as Vice President of Operations and General Manager. Craig married the love of his life, Mary Mulcahy Barton in 1981 and moved to East Longmeadow, MA where they raised their children. Craig was a classic car enthusiast who also drove the best of the best when it came to modern cars. He loved travelling the world with his family, especially to warm weather destinations. He was a very capable and skilled craftsman who was constantly working on projects around his home in East Longmeadow, Lake House in Holland, MA or his children’s homes. Spending time with his family and friends was his greatest joy in life. Craig is survived by his wife of thirty six years of marriage, Mary Barton of East Longmeadow; daughter, Jennifer Hansen and her husband David of Castro Valley, CA; son, Ryan Barton of East Longmeadow, MA; daughter Amanda Kelly and her husband Peter of East Longmeadow, MA; sister, Laurie Conz; brother, Scott Barton; three grandchildren; Quentin, Drew and Ramsey Hansen and several nieces and nephews. Craig’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his medical team at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA, the dedicated nursing staff of Baystate VNA & Hospice and the countless number of friends and family who have been incredibly supportive through this difficult time.  Family and friends will honor and remember Craig on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 10a.m. at the East Longmeadow United Methodist Church 215 Somers Road, East Longmeadow, MA, 01028. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 3pm-7pm at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118.
