Cyril “Pete” George Hutchins, Jr. died peacefully at home in Springfield on July 2, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Springfield, MA, on July 4, 1951, he was the 4th of 5 children born to Cyril and Dorothea Hutchins.  He was raised in Agawam MA, attending Agawam public schools, and graduating from Agawam High School in 1970. He had a string of manufacturing jobs in his early adult days, eventually landing a job at Smith and Wesson where he remained employed for 44 years.  Through his many years at Smith and Wesson, he remained committed to his job, working tirelessly through all types of conditions to perform at his best.  He eventually advanced to the position of team leader for a time, a position that he took great pride in.  Throughout his employment, he met many great people, and established many great friends. He remained employed at Smith and Wesson all throughout his illness and loss of life.  Cyril is survived by Joann (Limotti), his wife of 45 years; his two sons, Brian (Lynn Trelease) of East Longmeadow, MA, and Jason (Laura) of Feeding Hills, MA.  He is also survived by his sisters, Doreen (Richard) of Feeding Hills, MA, Dorothea (Gary) of West Springfield, Ma; his brothers, Gary of Agawam MA, Guy of Agawam MA; four grandchildren, Theo, Ellie, Nathan, and Nicholas; three step grandchildren,  Summer, Ryan, and Chase; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Jimmy Horniak (Dina).  Cyril enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing, golfing, bowling, shooting, following the New York Yankees, spending time with his grandkids, and tinkering around with many home improvement projects. He and his wife worked together to renovate the entire inside and outside of the family home, which they spent 44 years in together.  Throughout his illness, his wife was by his side, providing around the clock care for him to his last day.  Cyril’s family expresses their gratitude to the following people for their kindness and medical care throughout his illness: Dr. Jonathan Marsh, Dr. Thomas Napier, Carolyn Gutierrez; RN, of Baystate Hospice services, and to all the other nurses who cared for him in his last days.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield. Calling hours will precede the service from 11am-1pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care, 3350 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
