David Bailey

September 3, 1960 ~ February 7, 2019 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Tribute

David Saunders Bailey, 58, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019, in Springfield, MA.

Born in Springfield on September 3, 1960, the son of the late William A. and Donna (Saunders) Bailey, David spent his youth in Goldsboro, NC and West Brookfield, MA before moving back to Springfield, MA as a teen.

David’s idea of a perfect day was a long drive down a country road, in a fast car with the top down and the radio on. Years before he was old enough to drive, he was breaking down, repairing and rebuilding car and motorcycle engines.  His lifelong passion for all things motorized led to him spending countless hours in area garages and friends’ driveways up to his elbows in grease. David grew up to be a man of many talents, jack of all trades, skilled carpenter and slate roof specialist.

Survived by his cherished daughter Ann Marie Bailey of Monson, MA, and three grandchildren; Jacob Guzzo and Cadence and Caleb Crum.

David leaves his sister Elizabeth S. Perkins and three half-siblings William S. Bailey of Oakland, CA, Allison S. Gallori and Elizabeth A. Bailey of Brookline, MA. David was predeceased by his half-sister Martha L. Bailey.

Significant people in his life included Alfreda B. Shapere his beloved stepmother, Lori J. Atkinson the mother of his daughter, Kenny A. Guzzo the father of his eldest grandson and Billy Marchetti his longtime friend and work mate.

A brother to many and a friend of Bill W, David was strong, loyal and hardworking.  A quick study, with a keen sense of humor, he loved a good steak and a great movie.

Join us as we honor David's life and gather together in his memory on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, from 4-5pm followed by a Life Celebration Service at 5pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center 1858 Allen St, Springfield, MA 01118
