David Scott Moretti

August 12, 1956 ~ January 30, 2024 (age 67) 67 Years Old

David Moretti, 67, a resident of Springfield for over 50 years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024. Born August 12, 1956, he grew up in East Springfield, graduating from Tech High School. David owned his own business, which was well known for watering flowers and plants in the local area. He could be seen driving downtown with his Dodge Ram truck with a huge water tank in the back, watering the hanging plants and flower pots that decorated the surrounding businesses. David was a devoted son, he lived above his mother Helen for years, taking her to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping, always there for anything she needed. David was an avid card player and golfer. He made numerous oil paintings of beautiful landscapes. He was pretty close to unbeatable at cribbage and played in two pitch leagues. He also enjoyed trips to Lake George and to the beach. He was a loving father; every Sunday he would have his son Anthony over for a marathon of cribbage games. Every September he looked forward to going to the Big E with his daughter Gianna. Above all, David loved being with his family and he always knew how to make everyone laugh. He was a dedicated grandfather; he never missed a ball game, recital or family function. His favorite pastime was being with his grandkids; he was always available for a ride to practice and would drive hours away to watch them play. He was predeceased by his father Glauco “Orfeo” Moretti. He leaves behind his loving mother Helen (Cuoco) Moretti, his three devoted children; Anthony Moretti of Agawam, Vincent Moretti and his wife Shannon of Wilbraham, and Gianna Moretti of Springfield. David also leaves behind his brother Raymond Moretti and his wife Darlene of Agawam; three nephews Eric Catanzaro and his wife Patience, Nicholas Moretti and his wife Ashley, and Mario Moretti and his wife Danielle; his two grandchildren Natalie and Dominic Moretti, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather and remember David on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 with calling hours from 4 PM - 6 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Byron Keenan Funeral Home.
