Dennis B. Chaffee, Sr.

Dennis B. Chaffee, Sr. a longtime Hampden resident passed away on Tuesday, January 19th 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was born in Springfield, MA on January 4, 1940, the son of the late Dudley B. and Maude H, (Butterfield) Chaffee. Dennis was a graduate of Technical High School and proudly served our country in the United States Coast Guard. He was a Master Plumber and retired from his business D.B. Chaffee Plumbing and Heating. He was appointed as the Plumbing and Gas Inspector for the town of Hampden and was the alternate inspector for the town of Wilbraham. He was a member in good standing for the Hampden County Plumbing and Gas Association and was proud of his service to his profession. Dennis was a member of the Hampden Federated Community Church. A generous and loving man he is known for his kind deeds for family, friends, neighbors, and the Federated Community Church. He was an avid horseman and took great pride in his farm and horses. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra J Howell and his devoted children Lori Kellner, Caryn Paradis and husband David, Dennis Chaffee Jr. and wife Lisa, Justin Chaffee and wife Kristy, Kim Lupi and husband Joe, Cheryl Stewart, Michelle Lachapelle and husband Ken, Cheri Ribbe and husband Chris, Bradley Tryba and wife Lillian, Dale Tryba and wife Jill and Eric Methe. He also leaves his loving sister Marilyn Bennett and husband Gordon and his sister Diane Wilkinson. He is also survived by his 25 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many cherished nieces and nephews and of course his beloved dog Ranger. Due to Covid 19 concerns there was a private graveside burial with military honors at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Hampden, MA. A celebration of life will be held on a future day and time.
