Diane Louise (DuBois) Dematteo, 66, of East Longmeadow, died on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center after enduring a battle with a neurological disease. Diane was born in Holyoke, MA a daughter of Robert and Constance (Fredette) DuBois and was raised in Chicopee, MA.  She was an active child who loved playing softball, dancing, and cheerleading.  After graduating high school, Diane relocated a few times around New England before marrying and subsequently moving to Ohio. During her time in Ohio, Diane took pride in raising her four children, maintaining an active lifestyle (golf and long-distance runs), and baking (almost purchasing a bakery!).   As her children grew, Diane went back to college, earning a Bachelor of Science with honors in Nursing from The Ohio State University. It was during these years Diane fell in love with the Ohio State Buckeyes. From that point forward, Diane religiously watched the Buckeyes play every Saturday each season.  You needed a college football stat?  Diane was suddenly your person.  After graduating, Diane moved back to Massachusetts, relocating one final time to Longmeadow, MA where she pursued a career in nursing. When she wasn’t working, Diane continued to enjoy long-distance runs, skiing, and of course, the Buckeyes. Diane is survived by her four children, Amanda (Hal) Sposato of Western MA, Rachel Sposato of Los Angeles, CA, Elysia (Fred) Augustine of Medina, OH, and George Sanchez of Boston, MA; two grandchildren, Rose and Carah Augustine; her mother, Constance “Connie” DuBois; and ten siblings, Glen DuBois, Craig (Susan) DuBois, Donna DuBois, Brant (Laurie) DuBois, Darin (Sherri) DuBois, Holly (Daniel) Dubois-Dombrowsky, Wade (Christine) DuBois, Riché (Marc) Colcombe, Kirsten (Randy) Barnes, and Tempyl (Fred) Gagnon. Diane was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” DuBois. Calling hours and a brief service of memory and reflection will be held at the Byron Kennan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118 on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
