Tribute

Donald H. McLeod, 87, a resident of Monson and former longtime resident of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, died Wednesday morning, April 25, 2018 at Wingate of East Longmeadow with his loving family at his side. He was born and educated in Stafford Springs, CT a son of the late Edwin and Teresa (Pomeroy) McLeod. Don was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a Sgt., with the United States Army as was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge from active service, Don returned to civilian life where he was employed for many years with Alco Equipment of Agawam until his retirement. He was predeceased by his first wife Patricia (Paige) Thibodeau and his second wife Priscilla McLeod. Don leaves three loving children, Pamela Gusette and her husband Charles of Jacksonville, Beach, FL, Donald McLeod and his wife Cynthia of Chicopee, and Nelson McLeod of Monson and his wife Karen, with whom Donald shared a special bond with as she would visit him often; three step-sons, William, Raymond, and Robert Swain; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Edwin and Arthur McLeod. A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 6pm at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield.
