Edward Walter Goodrow

With heavy hearts Edward Walter Goodrow, 96, of Agawam, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born in Springfield on July 28, 1925, the son of the late Arthur and Minnie (Martin) Goodrow. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Robert Battey Ship during WWII. Edward worked at Smith & Wesson and retired after 38 years of service. Edward enjoyed watching cowboy T.V. shows and playing the guitar with his brothers. He loved going to the beach especially Misquamicut Beach. Edward had a gift of making people laugh telling his crazy jokes.  In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his first wife Doris Goodrow and four brothers Arthur, Homer, Robert and Eugene Goodrow and four sisters Alma Devine, Helen Martin, Lena Malouin and Yvonne Nelson. He is survived by his beloved wife Ellen (Welch) Goodrow of Agawam, three devoted children Daniel Goodrow of Springfield, Ronald Goodrow and his wife Lisa of Springfield and Dolores Goodrow of Agawam., and he leaves his four cherished grandchildren John Goodrow, Christopher Goodrow and his wife Lindsey, Lindsay Long and her husband Pete and Kelly Condino and her husband Andrew and he leaves seven great-grandchildren Jonah, Ellah, Alexander, Olivia, Skylar, Mackenna, & Audrina. He also leaves behind his sister Norma Tourigny of Southwick, MA. Edward’s greatest joy was being with his family. Family and friends will gather and remember Edward on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 8:30am-10a.m. at at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial and military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
