Ed Modlish
A Life Well Lived
Edward R, Modlish, Jr., 70, July 22, 1951 – May 3, 2022. Born in Springfield, MA, formerly of Danby, VT, Cape Cod, Berkshire County, MA and recently of Ludlow, MA, Ed passed in his sleep after a long illness. He was born to the late Edward R. Modish, Sr. and Jane K. (Lyczko) Modish and grew up in the Forest Park section of Springfield, where he attended Holy Name and Cathedral High Schools.
Ed was a born outdoorsman. Few people were as peaceful and content as he was fishing the pristine trout waters of the Battenkill River in VT with his trusty fly rod. He grew up camping, playing hoop, shooting pool, skiing, golfing, and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Any activity shared with Ed was sure to be an adventure.
He established the Superior Plumbing Co, In Dorset, VT, where he lived with his then wife Janet and daughter, Michaela. He worked as a master plumber most of his life, and retired a few years ago from the Tunstall Corp. in Chicopee.
To all who knew him, Ed possessed a unique joie-de-vivre and shared his love of life with all those lucky enough to make his acquaintance. Ed will make heaven an even more joyful place.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Michaela, currently of CA; his former wife, Janet, who remained his friend through the years; his "little sister" Maura (Modlish) Seiger and her husband, Carl of Tyringham, MA; his younger brother, Matthew G. Modlish and his wife Nancy Jo (Khantzian) and their children, Chris, John, Jeffrey and Carolyn, all of Seabrook, NH, along with many cousins and extended family members. All of his family know there was no one like Uncle Eddie.
A Celebration of his Life is planned for Saturday, May 21st. Family and Guests are invited to join us from 12-4pm at Tony & Penny’s, 18 Canterbury St., Ludlow, MA. www.tonyandpenny.com. For information, please contact the Byron Keenan Funeral Home at www.byronkeenan.com, or call (413)736-5413.
