Elaine Sue "Nana" (Bennett) Robbins, 77, a resident of Hampden for over fifty years, formerly of Springfield, died January 26th, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born and educated in the Forest Park area of Springfield, a daughter of the late Albert W. and Beulah E. (Gray) Bennett and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce. Elaine was employed for several years with the former Valley Bank in downtown Springfield. In more recent years, Elaine was employed with the Town of Hampden and Wilbraham School District and with the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative (LPVEC) as a bus driver for over thirty years prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the Hampden Senior Center, loved arts & crafts, enjoyed gardening, country western music, collecting teddy bears, dining out, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Peter E. Robbins who died in 2004 and is survived by two loving daughters, Lori J. Robbins and her best friend and longtime partner William Jahn of Monson, and Patricia E. Swales and her husband Jeffrey of Springfield; her cherished granddaughter Emmalee E. Swales; a brother, Neil Bennett of Wilbraham; two sisters, Marilyn Bennett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Tia Tyburski and her husband Michael of Springfield, along with several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd, at 11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, with a private burial in Old Cemetery in Hampden. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. Contributions in Elaine's name may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
