Elizabeth “Liz” Cotto, 60, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family who had the privilege of praying for her as she entered the Kingdom of Heaven. Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 11, 1960, the daughter of the late Facundo and Maria Cotto Algarin – Almodovar. Liz was a beautiful woman of faith. She is described by her loved ones as courageous, selfless and a strong fighter. She was a wise leader who would sacrifice anything for her family who were her first priority. She had a way of making anyone feel special and cared about. Liz enjoyed music, singing and dancing. Her favorite thing to do was spoil her grandson who she described as her world. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband Rafael Vargas of Springfield and four devoted children Larissa Vargas and her husband Jermaine Pam, Jaceli Vargas, Rafael Vargas and Yaricelli Cotto all of Springfield, she also leaves her siblings Rosie Marreo, Jose Cotto and his wife Margot, Noemi Cotto and Alice Minchala, and she is survived by one adored grandson Josiah Pam. Family and friends will gather and remember Liz on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 10:30am – 12noon at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Followed by a Life Celebration Service at 12noon. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. Contributions may be made to The City Church in Springfield www.thecitywithin.org
