Elizabeth (Crohan) Griffin, 82 a longtime resident of Chicopee, formerly of Hungry Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 surrounded by her beloved family. Elizabeth was born in Slea Head, Co. Kerry, Ireland on December 21, 1936, the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Manning) Crohan. She was educated in Ireland and immigrated to the United States. She was a graduate of St. John’s School of Business in West Springfield. Elizabeth worked for Baystate Medical Center and retired in 2007 after twenty-five years of service. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church for many years and later became a parishioner of Mary Mother of Hope Church in Springfield. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, spending time with those she loved and many vacations spent in Ireland. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband John Griffin and a sister Maire Houlihan. She is survived by her son Thomas Griffin, his wife Kathleen and their children Laura, Colleen, and Kelly all of East Longmeadow, two loving sisters Joan Devane of Ireland, Catherine Cullinan and her husband John of Springfield and their daughters Anne and Kathleen. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the US and Ireland. Family and friends will gather and remember Elizabeth on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 4-6p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10am at the Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd, in Springfield (Please meet directly at the church).
