Elwyn W. Lemon, 89 of Enfield CT, formerly of Sixteen Acres in Springfield, died early Thursday morning March 31, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born in his home in Hampden Mass, the son of late Charles H. and Blanche L (Jensen) Lemon. He was educated in Hampden and Wilbraham, before attending Roger L Putnam High School in Springfield. Elwyn joined the Army during the Korean War where his training was to work electronic controls. Elwyn worked at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT for 25 + years before starting Turbine Engine Control Services in his 50’s. He traveled often to Japan, Alaska and throughout the US until he retired in his 70’s. He and his wife of 62 years, Doris (Traver) were very active in many Baptist churches throughout the years, most recently Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor Locks. They committed their lives to the church and raised their children in this faith. Elwyn had a passion for many charities and helping those in need. During the 1970’s he was on the board of the Springfield Rescue Mission, which was a wonderful experience for him and his family. Some of his favorite hobbies were becoming a private pilot and joining a flight club at Bradley airport, traveling with his wife, family and friends to Bermuda, Hawaii, Alaska and New Hampshire, attending the symphony, listening to classical music, and collecting antiques. Elwyn was deeply sorrowed after the passing of his wife Doris; he is now at peace having joined her. Elwyn leaves four children, Dana J. Lemon of Hampden Mass, Debora L. Wilson and her husband Michael of Shapleigh, ME, Elaine C. VanWingerden of Somers, CT, and Beverly A.
