Emily A. Ballard, “Chickie” a lifelong resident of Springfield, Massachusetts passed away into the hands of the Lord at Baystate Medical Center on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Predeceased by her late parents Thomas French and Emily (Brown) French, a sister Rose French, husband Hester “Peewee” Ballard, beloved son, Clifton “Snoop” Ballard, and niece Barbara Gil. She leaves her beloved Godchild, Tracy E. Duncan to cherish her memories. Emily was a graduate of Commerce High School and was employed for many years by Casual Corner as an inventory control manager until her retirement. She joined Bethel A.M.E. Church 80 years ago, served on the Ladies Usher Board and participated in the Young Fellowship Group. Emily loved arts and crafts and participated in the Springfield Hobby Club creating ceramic figurines. She also was an excellent cook and loved baking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and spent the summers working in her garden. Emily also served on the Urban League’s Retired Seniors Volunteer Program for years. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning, January 24th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield with a funeral home service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Park Cemetery all in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Bethel A.M.E.
