Emma M. (Berube) Sanderson, 80, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 16, 2019 at BMC, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lawrence, MA, on March 11, 1939 the daughter of the late William and Alida (Parent) Berube. Emma was educated in the Springfield School system and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield. She spent her married life providing a loving, nurturing and welcoming home for all, tending to her family was after all, her most precious gift. Emma was an avid bingo player, enjoyed playing golf, bowling, going to the casino, her scratch tickets, but most importantly she treasured spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by three brothers, Ronald, Rene and Richard Berube. Emma is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-one years of marriage, Gerald Sanderson of Springfield; three devoted children, Patricia Rebstock and her husband James of Cape Coral, FL, Deborah Souliere and her husband Michael of Stafford, CT, and Scott Sanderson and his wife Brenda of Westfield, MA; her brother, Edgar Berube and his wife Leona of Westfield; her sister, Louise Dostie and her husband Phillip of Agawam; four cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Souliere and her fiancé Larry Bryant, Nicole Dean and her husband Mark, David Rebstock and Matthew Rebstock and his wife Jessica; five great grandchildren, Gianna, Emma, Maddox, Lexi, and Larry Ellis; two sisters in-law, Pamela Lambert and Teresa Berube; as well as a large extended family including her niece who was like a daughter, Michelle Dostie of Chicopee. Emma’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 24th at 8:30 AM from the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
