Ernest H. Page, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2017 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. He was born in Springfield on November 11, 1929 to the late Frank and Dorothy (Comins) Page. Ernest was a graduate of Stockbridge School at the University of Massachusetts and was a designer at the former F.M. Page Florist and later owned and operated Springfield Pottery Co. and Pagecraft. Ernie proudly served as Sgt. 1st Class on the front lines in Korea and as a past commander of VFW Post 9397 in Hampden. His many hobbies included watercolor painting, hunting, fishing, turkey shoots, photography, and he belonged to Valley Thunderbird Model Airplane Club in Springfield. Some years were spent as a private pilot and drummer for local bands. He and his wife enjoyed many travel experiences after retirement. He devoted much time to his children, fostering love of the outdoors and will be long remembered by friends and family for his joke telling and as a skillful Pitch player. Mr. Page leaves his devoted wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Hays) Page and his beloved children, Frank Page of East Hartford, CT, William Page of Townsend, MA Elizabeth Goldfarb (Edward) of Hingham, MA, Laurel Ackerman (Mark) of Broad Brook, CT, and Charles (Michelle) of Simsbury, CT; also eight treasured grandchildren Drew (Alexandra), Jamison, Chad and Lauren Goldfarb, Niles and Dean Ackerman, Samantha and Alyssa Page. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Ronald, in 2000, and his sisters, June Stibolt and Judith Fuqua. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff of East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center for their TLC over the past 3 years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017 at 11:30 am at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:30 am-11:30 am.
