Eugene A. Allen, 89, of Springfield passed away on Friday, January 05, 2018 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester, MA. Born in Danville, Vermont on May 18, 1928 he was the son of the late Gordon and Abigail (Wellinger) Allen. Eugene was a 1947 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont. He was a pattern maker for over 32 years and was a member of the Pattern Makers League. Eugene was an avid bowler and enjoyed wood working. Above everything else he loved his family. Along with his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife Florence “Tillie” (Hopkins) Allen in 1999; his infant son Edward Allen, and his two brothers, Richard and George Allen. He leaves his two sons, David L. Allen and his wife Barbara of Marlborough, MA and Paul Allen and his wife Katherine of Brimfield, MA; his sister, Elaine Ludden of Lake Wales, FL; three grandchildren, Sarah Hearn and her husband Brendan, Jason Allen, and Jenny Allen, as well as, several nieces and nephews.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11am at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield followed by burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Calling hours for Eugene will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4-7pm.
