Florence Mary (Blanchette) Castonguay

Florence Mary Castonguay, 94, a resident of Springfield for most of her life, died early Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer. She was born in Caribou, ME a daughter of the late Maxime and Lydia (Ouellette) Blanchette. Florence was a former member of the Springfield Golden Agers and longtime communicant of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church of Springfield. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Philip A. Castonguay who died in October of 2014 and leaves five loving children, Stephen P. Castonguay and his wife Sandy of Feeding Hills, Vaughn P. and Alan P. Castonguay both of Springfield, David M. Castonguay of Southwick, and Brenda M. Spaulding and her husband Robert of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Gracelyn, Lydia, Noah, Flo, Andrew, Matthew, Lisa, Daniel, Nicole, Denise and Rob; eleven great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by all of her siblings. Relatives and friends may call on Monday evening, April 16th from 5-8 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street in Springfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning directly at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston Road, Springfield, with Rites of Committal to conclude at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., in Agawam.
