Gary M. Rooney, 70, a lifelong resident of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, November 28, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Springfield, and received his formal education from the Springfield school system. He was the son of the late Eugene and Loretta (Hervieux) Rooney. Gary was employed by the City of Springfield for over thirty years as a truck driver retiring in 2003. He had a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ, lived his life and raised his family accordingly. He also volunteered for the Prison ministry at the Ludlow Jail, was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, and was lover of all things motorcycles. Gary is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 48-years, Mary A. (Trimboli) Rooney and leaves two loving children, Todd M. Rooney and his wife Jacklyn of Williamsburg, VA, and Colleen S. Richardson and her husband Philip of Wilbraham; two siblings, Gail McCoy and her husband Leonard of Talbott, TN, and Brian Rooney and his longtime companion Debbie Dunbar of Belchertown; six grandchildren, Christian, Trace, Adrianna, Noah, Adriana and Peyton; his two English Bull dogs, Brother Bruno and Emma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Kelly Rooney. Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Friday evening, December 3rd from 6-7 PM followed by a service beginning at 7:00 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street in Springfield.
