George Bernard Copeland, 84, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., and formerly of Springfield, MA, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Worcester, MA, on December 13, 1936, the son of the late Bernard and Eleanora (Gates) Copeland and was a graduate of Commerce High School of Worcester. He was an active member of the Church in the Acres in Springfield for many years, had a passion for trains and history, and was a member of the historical societies in Springfield and Florida. George proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. He worked for USAF in the 439th/CES Readiness and Emergency Management at Westover ARB in Chicopee, Ma for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his sister, Marion McCall. George is survived by his loving wife of 62-years, Patricia A. (Mooney) Copeland of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; three loving children, James B. Copeland of North Palm Beach, FL, Lisa I. Robie and her husband Michael of East Longmeadow, and Paul F. Copeland of Springfield; four grandchildren, Michael Robie, Jr., Tyler Robie, Michele Dowd and Samantha Copeland. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 9th from 4-6 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. A graveside service and military honors will be held Tuesday, August 10th at 11 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
