George H Trombley
January 20, 1944 ~ May 30, 2021 (age 77) 77 Years Old
George H. Trombley, 77, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Springfield on January 20, 1944, the son of the late Adelard and Azelina (Rivard) Trombley. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield. George proudly served our country in the United States Navy where he served two tours in the Vietnam War and the Santa Domingo crisis as well as over 20 years in the United States Air Force as part of the Air National Guard where he served two tours in Bosnia, a tour during Operation Desert Storm and another during Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a National Guardsman, he proudly worked full time at Barnes Air Force Base as a Master Sergeant in corrosion and sheet metal where he was recognized with many honors throughout his career for his work on the A-10 Thunderbolt “Warthog” aircraft. George retired from the Air National Guard in January 2004. He enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime. He was a black belt in Karate, an avid gun enthusiast, and was always ready for a ride on his prized Harley Davidson and having a few laughs with his veteran friends. But George was always happiest spending time with his family and sitting with the love of his life Marie, enjoying a spirited game of Cribbage. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Marie (LaGue) Trombley of Springfield, and four devoted children Bryan and his wife Amy of Springfield, Michael Trombley of Wilbraham, James Cloutier of Belchertown and Nicole Langone and her husband Michael of Wilbraham. He also leaves two brothers William Trombley and his wife Janet of West Springfield and Robert Trombley and his wife Georgene of East Longmeadow and one sister Barbara Fretto and her husband Dennis of East Mariches, NY. George also leaves his ten adored grandchildren, Bryan, Taylor, Michele, Madison, Patrick, Kristopher, Collin, Dylan, Rose and Grace and one great-grandchild Jacob. He also leaves his best friend and devoted K9 companion, Thor. Family and friends will gather to remember George on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 10:15am-12:15pm at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial and military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions in George’s honor be made to the Friends of the Springfield Veterans Center, 95 Ashley Avenue, West Springfield, MA, 01089.
