Gordon E. Johnson, 95, of Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 11, 2022, with his son Andrew by his side. Gordon was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on June 4, 1927, the son of the late Albert and Ellen (Swanson) Johnson.
Gordon was a graduate of American International College and Western New England College where he trained as an accountant. Gordon enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Following his military service, he began his professional career as an accountant in Springfield, MA.
Gordon was married on October 24, 1964, to Janice Park of Jamestown, NY. The couple were married for 49 years until Janice’s death on November 28, 2013.
Gordon served as financial secretary and auditor for the Evangelical Covenant Church in Springfield for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed working with model trains and cars with his son Andrew. He was passionate about American history and enjoyed his frequent visits to Old Sturbridge Village and Chautauqua, New York.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was also predeceased by his beloved wife Janice (Park) Johnson. Gordon is survived by his devoted son Andrew Johnson of Springfield. A Memorial Service was held at the Indian Orchard Covenant Church, 95 Berkshire Street in Indian Orchard, MA. A private interment will be held at a future date in Jamestown, N.Y.
