Harold S. Corkum, 88, of Hampden, formerly of Danvers, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Born in Salem, MA on December 25, 1930 he was a son of the late Stanley M. and Millie B. (Beck) Corkum. Harold served in the US Army as sergeant during the Korean War. He graduated from Suffolk University and attended the Foreign Service Institute where he trained to be a Diplomatic Courier. Harold traveled to many places, but especially enjoyed cruises with his late wife Joan and loved traveling to his parent’s homeland of Nova Scotia where the family resided near Corkum Lake. He was an all-around people person and knew how to make you smile. Harold reunited with his high school sweetheart after 40 years and the two were married for 27 years. He once more, now reunites with his loving wife, Joan A. (Cail) Richers Corkum who passed in 2017. Harold is survived by his son, Christopher Corkum of Salem; his step children, Gregg Richers and his wife Nida of East Longmeadow, Pamela Richers of Land O’ Lakes, FL., and Lisa Dargie of Ludlow and her former husband Matthew Dargie of Wilbraham; his six cherished grandchildren, Nichole Lukas, Erin Cigich and her husband Rich, Alyse Bynaker and her husband David, Bryce O’ Grady, Brendan O’ Grady and Sydney Dargie; four great- grandchildren Charlotte, Lila, Parker, and Kinsley. Harold also leaves his cat Bo aka Marty and was predeceased by his other three, Daisy, Toots, and Toby. A graveside service will be held at a later date in his family’s plot in North Beverly Cemetery. Donations may be made in his name to Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center.
