Hector Luis Vazquez

Hector L. Vazquez, 74, of Ludlow, formerly of Springfield, as many of his family and friends commonly and affectionately referred to as Luis, died early Monday evening, February 15, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and educated in Aguas Buenas, PR, a son of the late Justo Vazquez Carrasquillo and Teresa Rivera Narvaez and moved to Springfield as a young man. Luis was employed with the City of Springfield School Department as a custodian for many years until his retirement. He was a “jack of all trades”, a master at installing drywall, granite and tiles to say the least and was always more than willing to help friends and family. Luis was also a big wrestling fan and never missed a Monday night if he could help it. His faith meant a lot to him, he was very religious and prayed the rosary faithfully every night. Hector leaves his best friend and fiancée of over 20 years, Yvonne DaCruz of Ludlow; two sons, Elieser and Hector Vazquez, Jr., both of Springfield; his daughter, Susan Jeanroy and her husband Justin of Hampden; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 surviving siblings, Carmen Gloria, Jaime, Angel and Maria Teresa all of Puerto Rico; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Luis was predeceased by 6 siblings, Bonita, Cristino, Jose, Eustaquio, Carlos and Antonio.
