Iris B. (Ivins) Tetreault, 90, of East Longmeadow, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Iris was born in Queens, N.Y., on December 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Parent) Ivins.
Iris was a person of diverse skills and talents that allowed her to pursue many careers throughout her life. Among her favorites were fitness instructor and graphic designer. However, none was more important or fulfilling than being Mémère to her many grandchildren. An undeniable force of love and joy, any activity became exponentially better just by adding Mémère. Her spirit was infectious to all who met her, instantly brightening anyone’s day. Iris, an endless repository of life experiences, was also a fantastic storyteller. She had a tale for every situation, often ending in laughter and imparting wisdom. In her free time, Iris expressed herself through painting. She shared her love of nature and special affinity towards the ocean and mountains. In addition to her parents, Iris was predeceased by two sons, John and Alan Tetreault; and her daughter, Joanne.
She leaves her loving daughter, Marie Draymore and her husband Mark, of Longmeadow; and her five cherished grandchildren, Alec Draymore, Matthew Draymore and his fiancé Skylar George, Daniel Draymore, Eva Draymore and Alan Tetreault, Jr. All services and burial will be private.
In honor of Iris’ selfless spirit, memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118.
